The Baconer Maple Old Fashioned

Bacon Old Fashioned Cocktail

Had a long day? Try our Maple Old Fashioned. This is our take on the classic cocktail with a few major upgrades, sure to set you right ;-)


  • 2 oz Bourbon
  • 2 dash Angostura Bitter
  • 1 tsp maple syrup
  • Orange twist
  • Swizzle of candied maple bacon
For the bacon swizzle
  • Maple Sugar Small Batch Bacon Strips
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne
  • 2 tsp freshly ground black pepper


  1. Lay bacon strips on a baking sheet, use a rack if you have it
  2. Combine brown sugar, cayenne and black pepper, and rub all over the bacon strips
  3. Bake at 400F for about 20 minutes
  4. Remove from oven and let cool until stiff and candied surface has hardened
  5. While bacon swizzle is cooling, stir together bourbon, bitters and maple syrup. Add ice to your glass of choice and pour over the cocktail mixture.
  6. Garnish with candied bacon swizzle and orange rind
